1. I'm stumbled onto to your web page http://www.nysedata.com and let me say that I'm thrilled and excited that the NYSE.com has one again shown why its the global leader in capital markets. Thank you for taking a leadership role towards improving transparency to investors. I hope that this webpage remains a source for the average investor despite the concerns and questions that are to follow.

2. I'm looking for a legend/key to explain the origin and characteristics of the data presented on the webpage. Is there legend?

3. Assuming that there isn't a legend at this time, please explain the nature/cause of the discrepancies reported. I noticed several mismatches, which indicate that the source of the information varies. Please explain the following discrepancies and identify the data's source of origin.

Please explain why these differences exist:

Discrepancy 1. CLOSING SUMMARY | Total volume versus VOLUME SUMMARY | Total Shares
Discrepancy 2. ODD LOT ACTIVITY | Total Sales(Shares) versus VOLUME SUMMARY | Odd-Lot Volume
Discrepancy 3. ODD LOT ACTIVITY | Total Sales(shares) versus the combined total of ODD LOT ACTIVITY | Purchases + Short Sales + Other Sales doesn't match even if you divide by total two. Why?
Discrepancy 4. The combined total of VOLUME SUMMARY | Round-Lot and Odd-Lot Volume doesn't equal either of the Total Volumes listed on the webpage. When categorized in this manner, what other classes of volume are there to account for the difference?
Discrepancy 5. The combined total of PROGRAM AND RETAIL TRADING | Total Program Volume and Total Retail Volume doesn't equal either of the Total Volumes listed on the webpage. When categorized this way, what other type of volume is there to account for the difference?
Discrepancy 6. The combined total of the VOLUME SUMMARY | Trades (0-2000 + 2001-5000 + 5001-10000 + Block) doesn't equal DOLLAR VOLUME SUMMARY | NYSE Trades. What other types of trades are there?
Discrepancy 7. The combined total of the three SDOT values provided (VOLUME SUMMARY | SDOT Buy + SDOT Sell + SDOT Short Sell) doesn't equal either of the Total Volumes listed on the webpage even if the total is divided by two. Where else would volume originate? Where would it be disclosed that these non-SDOT traded shares are classified as Buy, Sell, or Sell Short?

Secondly, it appears that most days SDOT accounts for 93% of the trading volume, but occasionally it only accounts for 44%. Where's the origin for the other 56% of the trading volume?

Point of interest: When the weekly Program Trading Report is released, it contains an daily average trading volume value along with the daily average Total Program Trading Volume. The most recent report released (July 3-7 2006) cited an average daily trading volume of 2634.5 Million Shares with an average Program Trading volume of 902.1 Million shares. The footnote for the daily average total NYSE volume states that it is the sum of the shares bought, sold, and sold short including crossing sessions.

The data reported by nysedata.com's webpage indicated for the week of July 3-7 a daily average total volume of 1281.9 or 1278.27 Million shares and the crossing session daily average for the same week was 159.0 Million shares. If the lower of these two total volume values were added to the average crossing session value and then doubled, the total would be 2874.59 Million. This doesn't agree with the data cited in the Program Trading report. Please explain.

As for the average total Program Trading volume value, the information cited on nysedata.com produces a daily average for the week of July 3-7 of 716.6 Million shares. This again differs significantly from the value cited in the weekly Program Trading report's 902.1 Million. Please explain this discrepancy.

Point of interest: Is ARCA trading volume separate from NYSE trading volume? Is there any co-mingling of trades or volume?
