In the intra-day quote (CQ) file, I see quotes from various exchanges. It is my understanding that in order to obtain a national best bid and offer (NBBO), one would have to determine the most recent bids and offers from all exchanges and take the highest bid and lowest ask from among the exchanges. Yet I also see on the file "best bid" and "best offer" fields. Are these the NBBO's? Has someone already gone through the above comparison? Also, there is a National BBO Indicator field whose description on the NYSE web site is incomprehensible. Can anyone explain the meaning of this field? Much thanks. Bruce |
