In the Arca Fast spec, the suggested way to map a symbol is: session id * session offset + symbol index. The spec uses the value 8000 for the session offset. Where does this value (8000) originate? Is it simply arbitrarily chosen to be a value high enough to ensure a unique value is always generated? |

| I had ask this question to ARCA support and they were also uncertain as to where the "8000" originated. We are using that formula in our implementation and so far we haven't noticed any duplicate mapping ids being generated. |
